HCP Job Report 43 : Temporary Replacement for Pumping Station in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan

                   Climate change has brought extreme weather across the globe. The demand for effective flood control is increasing in Japan. Located in the linear precipitation zone, typhoons and heavy rain are expected during Kyushu summer, making effective flood control critical. During the typhoon season, one of the pumping stations in Kumamoto prefecture had pump maintenance. A temporary replacement is requested to keep the pumping station performing its duty. The requirement of the pumping station is discharging 60m3/min with a pipe dimension of 500mm (18”). 1 HCP PUMP 45kW AF-1660 discharges 18m3/min at 10m head. For this pumping station, 3 HCP PUMP AF-1660 pumps are installed with reducers to fulfill the pumping station’s operation needs. The pumps have successfully carried out the tasks and helped protect the residents in Kumamoto prefecture.
